A Safe Space Studio Comes to Brooklyn

Brooklyn is about to get a very special new service. On November 11, A Safe Space Studio will open in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park, creating a new, inclusive wellness hub aimed at making mental health resources more accessible. Founded by Teya Knapp and Jasmine Dayze, the studio will serve as an affordable option for wellness classes and therapeutic support, targeting those who often face financial and cultural barriers to such services. Classes will include Reiki, guided workouts, and bilingual options, intended to meet the diverse needs of the local community.

In addition to wellness classes, A Safe Space Studio will offer counseling sessions led by certified BIPOC therapists, addressing a shortage of culturally relevant mental health support. Several free classes and a scholarship program aim to make the studio accessible, with paid options beginning at $20 and a monthly unlimited membership at $100. For those qualifying for the scholarship, membership grants an additional guest pass each month, allowing community building within the space.

The studio’s unique offerings include “Safe Space Saturdays,” where guests can enjoy music and a social setting similar to nightlife, but without alcohol. Knapp and Dayze envision the studio as a sanctuary for Brooklynites seeking connection and support on their wellness journeys.
