Amit Paley Raises Awareness of Global Child Malnutrition

Amit Paley is Executive Director of The Movement Against Malnutrition. Paley and his organization are working to raise awareness of the pervasiveness of global malnutrition. According to the International Rescue Committee (IRC), approximately 50 million children suffer from acute malnutrition around the world and approximately 2 million children under the age of five die from the condition each year.

The Movement Against Malnutrition lays out the following pillars to solve the problem:

  1. Save costs and help more children by advocating for simpler protocols to treat acute malnutrition.
  2. Launch a campaign for greater funding, both from governments and individual donors.
  3. Aim to aid at least 1.3 million children with severe and moderate malnutrition.
  4. Research innovative means to decrease the cost of malnutrition treatment and increase the reach of the treatment to as many children as possible.
  5. Help develop and implement plans in countries with high rates of malnutrition.

Amit Paley and the IRC believe that by streamlining the approach to malnutrition, over one million children’s lives will be saved over the next decade.
