Bringing the Panda Back in New York
New Yorkers were privy to an exciting night on Tuesday, May 24th as Kung Fu Panda 2 premiered at the Ziegfeld Theatre. Jack Black and Lucy Liu were there to greet fans and enjoy the hype — while Angelina Jolie didn’t make it to this premiere.
Angelina Jolie’s Thoughts
Angelina Jolie related to the press, however, that she had a blast making the film. As she said, “It’s the cushiest job in the world. You can bring your kids, you can go in your pajamas, [director] Jennifer [Yuh]’s really good about whatever you want to order for lunch, so you end up ordering pizza with your kids, snacking – it’s great.”
She explained, however, that the challenge of being a voice-over is that you aren’t doing your part with the other actors. She explained that sometimes you would have to come back to the studio to respond to each other.
Lucy Liu looked characteristically stunning at the premiere in a black and white dress with a bright pink clutch. As she told Celebuzz, “It feels like I’m coming back home. I’m really proud of this movie and its powerful message about family and love.”
New York Premiere
Jack Black had a great time at the New York premiere, goofing off with the teenage fans and showing his “inner panda” strength.
The film also has many other star-studding voices including Dustin Hoffman, Gary Oldman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen and David Cross. Rated PG and scheduled for release on May 26th by DreamWorks Animation, the new film sees Po as the Dragon Warrior living with his Furious Five friends to protect the Valley of Peace. Threatened by a villain, the group has to travel across China to face the threat.
