Brooklyn Chef Wins Big

If you’re looking for great places to eat in Brooklyn, look no further than the restaurants owned by Missy Robbins. She has won recognition as a chef many times including for the restaurant Lilia that she opened in 2016 and Misi, opened in 2018. In 2018, Esquire named her as Chef of the Year and ranked her Williamsburg pasta restaurant called Misi as one of the 20 best new restaurants in the USA.

As Esquire explained in naming her chef of the year, “These are crazy times. We need comfort, we need sustenance, we need to get back to basics. ‘Keep it simple’ is its credo, and in her hands, serving you a perfect bowl of noodles with butter and cheese becomes a spiritual act, a secular serenity prayer amid the frothing, nerve-shredding lunacy of the news cycle.”

Formerly working in Manhattan, Robbins came to Brooklyn to open Lilia first. The restaurant quickly received three stars from the New York Times and she went on to win the James Beard Award for best chef in NYC. Learn more about Missy, her background, and her words for women trying to make it in the culinary world. We are certainly proud to have her, and her restaurants, in the neighborhood!
