Great October Activities in the Area

There are so many great activities happening in the Gowanus area right now, as we get ready for Halloween and enjoy the beginning of the fall season. Here are just a few activities to keep the kids occupied and to enjoy some cultural experiences in the area.

  1. Greg’s Great Pumpkin Patch: Who doesn’t love going to a pumpkin patch and getting in the fall spirit? The Greenwood Park Beer Garden is being turned into a fall destination where families can pick pumpkins, gourds and buy Halloween decorations. There are pumpkin painting workshops, painted pumpkins for sale and a chance to dress your dog up for the Paw-rade as well.
  2. The New York Aquarium is featuring a special exhibit to show how plastics are polluting the environment in ways that are harmful to wildlife and people. Called “Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea,” the exhibit includes 35 sculptures made from marine debris. Admission to the exhibit automatically comes with the purchase of a ticket to the acquarium.
  3. For an adults-only experience, enjoy the wine tasting experience with the Rebel School of Wine Takeover. As the event describes it, “You will taste your way through the science, history, economics, politics and culture of wine.” Tickets will include access to the exhibit called Flavor: The World to your Brain and you’ll enjoy five or more wine samples included with the ticket.
