Markowitz Lights Brooklyn’s Christmas Tree in Borough Hall Plaza

Marty Lights the Tree

Borough Hall Plaza

Marty Markowitz, Brooklyn’s borough president, officially got the Christmas season in to motion when he flicked the switch which lit up the 40-foot tall Christmas tree which stands tall in downtown Brooklyn’s Borough Hall Plaza.

Worth a Visit

According to “Time Out New York” the tree is definitely “worth seeking out on a cold winter’s night.” The tree is a balsam fir, and you can expect it to sparkle with color every night throughout the Christmas season.

Guests of Honor

Among those also in attendance at the tree lighting ceremony with Markowitz were,   Councilman Stephen Levin, Councilman Domenic Recchia Jr., Assemblywoman Joan Millman, Councilwoman Letitia James and Akeelah Freeman, 4, of Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Cookies and Santa, Too

Cookies were distributed to the audience, and even Santa Claus was on hand for the celebration.
