Get on a Bus and Ride Through History

This upcoming event sounds like a dream come true for children who love transportation – and their parents. The 28th annual Bus Festival will be kicking off at Brooklyn Bridge Park on September 8th. This New York Transit Museum’s Vintage Bus Festival includes nine buses showcasing a century of NYC commuting history. The oldest bus on display will be a 1931 double-decker model which ran in Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx from 1931 until 1953. It’s the oldest bus in the Transit Museum’s archives and is certainly something that history buffs will enjoy seeing.

Other gems will include the bus that Jackie Gleason’s character drove on The Honeymooners, a 1993 model Rapid Transit Series bus and more. Attendees can actually get onto all of these buses and a scavenger hunt is also in the plans.

The festival will take place on the 8th at Emily Warren Roebling Plaza in Brooklyn Bridge Park, starting at 10 a.m.
